Margit Stórá, Minister of Social Affairs and Health

Margit Stórá (Social Democratic Party) is the Minister of Social Affairs and Health.

Margit Stórá is from Fuglafjørður and was born on 6 January 1971. She is married to Tormóður Stórá. They have three children and live in Tórshavn.

She is a trained nurse and holds a Master’s degree in Public Management.

Margit Stórá has served as Deputy Director at the National Hospital of the Faroe Islands, has taught courses in management, and has worked in Greenland as a consultant within the health sector. She has also worked as an adviser and Head of Department within the Ministry of Health.

Margit Stórá was first elected to the Faroese Parliament in 2022. From 2022 to 2024, she served as Minister of Health, and from 2024 to 2025, she served as Minister of Environment. She has previously been Chair of the Suðurstreymoy Social Democratic Association and Deputy Chair of the Social Democratic Party.

Margit Stórá took office as Minister of Social Affairs and Health on 1 December 2025.
